Pool Clearances around Power Lines

If you are installing a pool in your yard, you need to know that the National Electrical Safety Code requires a 22.5 foot clearance in any direction from the water level, edge of pool, diving platforms, pool sliding boards or other fixed pool-related structure to the overhead electric service line, and a 25-foot clearance from overhead primary lines. The code applies to in-ground and above-ground pools, hot tubs, and the like.

Co-op Promotes Pittman to VP Post

CCEC Director of Engineering Will Pittman, P.E., has been promoted to Vice President of Engineering and Operations.

A graduate of East Carteret High School, Pittman completed an internship at CCEC in 2006 while pursuing his electrical engineering degree at UNC-Charlotte. After graduation in June 2008, he was hired as staff engineer at the cooperative, and was later promoted to the director position.

Electric Co-ops Support Wounded Warriors

Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative and several other eastern electric co-ops supported the Gates County Wounded Warrior Turkey Hunt.

The cooperatives contributed a total of $1,000 to this year’s event. Seventeen wounded warriors including one Medal of Honor recipient participated. With the assistance of 32 volunteer hunting guides, they were able to take seven gobblers.

Celebration ruled the night at the Carteret-Craven Electric Co-op (CCEC) Annual Meeting of the Membership Thursday at Glad Tidings Church in Morehead City.

“We had a lot to celebrate and share with our members, particularly how they have been the catalyst for all the co-op has accomplished over the years,” said Communications Director Lisa Galizia.
