Monthly REPS Charge Decreased
The cooperative’s monthly Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (REPS) charge will be 20-cents per 1,000 kWh for residential members and 87-cents for commercial accounts effective Jan. 1.
The state REPS, adopted in 2007, requires the cooperative to meet up to 10 percent of its energy sales through renewable energy resources or energy efficiency measures by 2018. When the cooperative began its REPS programs, the costs of renewable energy resources were much higher than they are today. Today, solar energy projects are the lowest cost renewable energy credits, and we have continued to shift more of our expenditures to those resources in recent years.
