Foundation Honored for Support of BackPack Friends
Danielle Abraham, founder and director of BackPack Friends, surprised the Carteret-Craven Electric Foundation board with special recognition for their continued support of the charity that provides food to needy school children in our area.
Ms. Abraham attended the foundation’s monthly meeting recently to request continued support of BackPack Friends. The all-volunteer organization provides nutritional meals and snacks to children who may need a little extra over the weekend and holidays. The goal is to assist in meeting their nutritional, mental and overall well-being needs.
Now in its eighth year, BackPack Friends delivers more than 350 backpacks of food to children in area schools each week; all packed by volunteers with 100 percent donated food supplies at an annual cost of over $100,000.
Funds for Backpack Friends and other charities and projects supported by the foundation are made possible through member donations to Operation RoundUp®
